During this very unusual time in our lives we want to continually reassure you that we are following all of the CDC and MSDE recommendations along with our child care regulations. All of our staff and children 5 and up are wearing masks throughout the day. We are cleaning all toys, often touched surfaces and frequently washing hands. Although we are unable to give tours during our normal operating hours we would be happy to schedule a tour after hours. You may call us at 410-939-7065. We would love to introduce you to PlayPlace and show you around! We are very proud of our center and our fine staff.

Staff & Curriculum

Staff & Curriculum

Our Staff

Provides your child with a loving, caring learning environment. All teachers have degrees or have taken college courses to meet all requirements under the state child licensing agency. All teacher's assistants have experience working with children and are pursuing child development courses. All of our teachers have completed Red Cross Standard First Aid and CPR courses applicable for infants, toddlers, and adults.

All teachers plan developmentally appropriate activities and lessons relating to weekly themes. Weekly themes are explored during circle time, art, science, literature, and music. Your child's development of language and understanding is promoted through these daily activities. You may be asked too occasionally bring in certain materials for your child's daily lessons (ie: writing pads, writing materials, etc.) Lesson plans and other important papers and information about your child's class are posted on the parent bulletin board outside each classroom.

Our Philosophy

At PlayPlace America we believe that each child is an individual with their own needs and talents. By providing them with an enriching, loving, stimulating and challenging environment, children are able to journey forward to future steps of learning in the areas of physical, social, emotional, and intellectual development.

To meet this challenging environment, our curriculum will be presented through constructive, teacher led activities. Children will always experience first hand the subject matter being taught. During the lessons, the children will draw pictures, hear stories, sing songs, dramatize, etc. The emphases will be to provide learning experiences that are fun and exciting.

PlayPlace America will provide a safe, loving, warm and caring environment in which children can learn and grow. By allowing the child individual choices within group limits, self-confidence and self-esteem will be developed.

Parent support and participations are very important in a child's early years. We promote parent involvement by providing an open door policy which enables parents to "pop in" and see what their child is doing at any time.

If at any time you have any questions, comments, or concerns please feel free to talk with us.

Discipline

PlayPlace America has devised discipline policies for behavior limits to promote consistency throughout all classrooms. The goal of our program is to emphasize respect for the teachers, others, materials, and self. All children entering PlayPlace are automatically given a 2 week probationary period to determine if there is going to be a behavior problem.

The purpose of our discipline policies are to teach self-control with an emphasis on future correct behaviors. It is important that children realize there may be consequences that follow their misbehavior and the things that are directly related to that behavior. There are also positive reinforcement that we use to encourage good behavior. It may be verbal praise or rewards, like stickers, stamps, or notes for parents to see.

Redirection is the key to discipline. We redirect the child from the misbehavior rather than isolating him or her in timeout. If this does not help the problem, notes and phone calls to parents would be the next step taken before probation, then, depending upon the behavior, termination would be the last resort.
